IRRI's Short Course On Basics Of Rice Production

Rice is Asia’s economically and culturally most important food crop and its production is regarded as the single most important economic activity on the planet.

This 3-day Basic Rice Production Course is an IRRI orientation to rice production form seed preparation to post harvest. It is designed to update the participant’s knowledge and skills concerning best practices and new technology associated with wetland rice farming. It is designed for IRRI in-campus participants only.

The objective of the course will enable the participants to; 

  • appreciate the importance of rice and its growing environment
  • understand how rice varieties are developed and produced
  • detect, identify and solve common field problems of rice production
  • “get your feet wet” by performing actual field operations in the farm
