Within the last 10 years of its existence, YPARD has made major strides growing to be a thought leader when it comes to amplifying the voices of youth on topical issues in agricultural development.With the YPARD business plan 2014-2018 coming to a close, YPARD held a strategic planning meeting to map out the network priorities in the coming years.

#Foresight4Ag: Empowering rural communities to determine their own futures

Four YPARD members joined GFAR and FARA in the facilitation of a Collective Action embedding foresight into agricultural research and innovation in Africa . The participants brainstormed on the forces and drivers shaping the futures of agricultural research and innovations, their interactions or mutual influences, and building scenarios based on the states of the most influential forces they have identified.

YPARD Ghana: Building inclusive agricultural technologies for young people

Young people are best placed to understand and clearly voice out issues that their fellow youth are facing. This was the premise that the Restless Development and the MasterCard Foundation stood on to introduce the youth to youth-led research methodology. The goal of the research was to investigate the barriers and opportunities around agricultural technologies ideation, promotion, and uptake by young people in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ghana, Malawi and Zambia.


YPARDian bags home the 2017 SFIAR Master Thesis award!

In 2017, YPARD member Sebastian Mengel was the recipient of the SFIAR Master Thesis award for his collaborative research with YPARD, Bern and CGIAR CRP drylands program on agricultural livelihoods of rural youth in the drylands of Midelt, Morocco. He tells us about the award and what it means for young professionals in agriculture.
