YPARD Team wishes every each of you a Happy New Year!
COP18, the 18th edition of the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) was taking place from November 26 to December 7, 2012 in Doha, Qatar.
Two events were particularly related to agriculture: “Forest day” and “Agriculture, Landscapes and Livelihoods Day”, December 2 and 3, 2012.
Agri-Hub Ethiopia (AHE), a platform, has organized an annual networking day on December 13, 2012 and invited interested organizations and individuals to participate on the workshop. I have attended the workshop- representing YPARD. The day long event was hosted in Harmony Hotel, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) Global Youth Forum was held in Bali, Indonesia, from 4th -6th December 2012 in the context of the reviewing and following up to the implementation of the ICPD Programme of Action beyond 2014 and development agenda beyond 2015.
Youth are messenger of excellent source of ideas and innovation. Investing in young people on improved access to training, capacity development and facilitating to use of appropriate technology will have the best effect to attract more youth in agriculture. On these days, information and communication technologies (ICTs) have been key tools for knowledge sharing and networking in development of agriculture globally.
YPARD Community Blog
It is generally believed that field survey is a vital and basic way to conduct research and for the preparation of polices. We (International Division of Agricultural Information Institute, CAAS) did several long time and large geographical span field surveys in the past years.
The global community is organized to accommodate those completing studies. You can decide to make your life exciting or dull and boring in the same community. When you complete university studies, you find yourself having to part with people, networks, and information. Interestingly, studying is a phase in this earthly life. You go or pass them on your way forward. As you leave university decide on where you want to be and what you want to do. Guidance and direction is all it takes. Take life as it comes!

I am one of the founding members of YPARD. I am also a promoter of the creation of YPARD European Unit hosted by the Bern University of Applied Sciences, School of Agricultural, Forestry and Food Sciences (HAFL), and its representation in EFARD, the European Forum in ARD (of which I am currently vice-chair).
The GFFA is an international event focusing on central issues regarding the future of the global agri-food industry. It will be held for the the fifth time in January 2013, during the International Green Week (IGW).

The quick and high returns of Nigeria's oil industry have led to it dominating the economy to the detriment of other sectors. But Jite Okoloko saw an opportunity in the disarray of the agricultural sector to champion Nigerian farmers.
After seven years living in the United States Mr Okoloko returned to Nigeria and launched Notore Chemical Industries Ltd in 2005. He says he was dismayed by Nigeria's continued reliance on imported food and saw an opportunity to increase home-grown food production.
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) has released a new interface for FAOSTAT, providing a new easy platform for food and agriculture statistics.
FAOSTAT includes raw data, analyses and tools to compare data across a series of thematic areas. The data cover 245 countries and 35 regions from 1961 to the present.

A group of researchers at Centre for Development Research (ZEF), University of Bonn, that deals with the issues of knowledge and governance, is happy to announce an International Academic Conference on Agricultural Knowledge and Knowledge Systems in post-Soviet Societies. The conference will take place in Bonn, Germany, on September 12 – 13, 2013.
