As a Youth to Youth Fund (Y2YF) grantee in 2011/12, Ushirikiano facilitated the creation of 7 group project green businesses and 75 green jobs, particularly in the construction of fireless cookers and energy efficient stoves. With the support of Scale up Funding from the Y2YF in 2014, Ushirikiano is now expanding their beneficiaries’ access to markets and quality standards bodies, as well as supporting an additional 50 rural youth to engage in the green jobs sector. The Y2YF is a competitive grant scheme implemented by the International Labour Organization-Youth Entrepreneurship Facility and an in-country implementing partner in Kenya, the Ustadi Foundation.
