In 2017, the GLF reached more young people than ever before, through its cooperation with the Youth in Landscapes (YIL) initiative.
YIL is a global movement of young people committed to the landscapes philosophy, and is coordinated by youth, for youth. Youth organizations in the fields of forestry, geography, agriculture, agroecology and biodiversity united to organize a comprehensive agenda for youth participants at the Bonn event. As a direct result of GLF outreach efforts and the YIL initiative, 322 young people registered for the GLF, with 183 expressing interest in volunteering. Youth participants (defined as those aged 18-30 years) at the event totaled 286 participants – or 28% of the total turnout. Read more on the youth activities on page 7 of the report.
