Consultant / Research Assistant: UN Solution Exchange, India

IntroductionSolution Exchange (SE) is a Knowledge Management (KM) initiative of the United Nations Country Team (UNCT) in India for accelerated achievement of India’s development objectives and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) through effective use of practitioners’ knowledge. The objective of SE is to bring out practitioners unstated (or tacit) knowledge and make it available to everybody. There are currently eight active Communities of Practice (CoPs) under SE – one of them is the Gender Community of Practice (GEN CoP). SE India is calling for a Consultant/Research Assistant to Facilitate the Creation and Work of the Sub-Community – ‘Gender, Youth & Migration’ (GYM) supported by UNESCO, under the Gender Community of Practice (GEN CoP) of UN Solution Exchange.Candidate ProfileQualification and Competencies
  • University degree (Postgraduate degree or equivalent) in development studies, social sciences and related fields with a good understanding of youth, gender and migration issues
  • Proficient in IT and Computer Knowledge (to be able to understand functioning of a web portal and upload information)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in research and documentation

Knowledge and Skills
  • Motivated and energetic to dedicatedly work on the GYM sub-community and its portal/web-page
  • Proficient in IT and Computer Knowledge 
  • Able to communicate clearly through e-mails/other means
  • Good Writing Skills
  • Ability to learn fast some IT techniques to upload information on a webpage
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of Hindi or any regional language would be an asset.
