TCC Course - Scientific Communication and Publishing

The Training Centre in Communication (TCC) is organising a new 5 day course on "Scientific Communication & Publishing". The course is to be held on 12-16 March 2012, at University of Nairobi, Kenya. The course is designed for researchers and MSc/PhD students, who intend to publish in peer-reviewed journals, write proposals or participate at conferences. The course contains little on style and language use, as the focus lies on technical aspects of communication.The workshop aims to assist participants develop skills necessary for writing scientific papers, theses, proposals, and communicating scientific information in written and oral forms.   • teach practical skills in scientific writing and graphical data analysis
  • make participants aware of the conditions and traditions by which the scientific publication industry operates
  • enable participants to choose an appropriate forum for publishing their results
  • build institutional capacity as new skills are transferred afterwards
  • improve the project management skills of participants
The registration fee for University of Nairobi students and employees is KES 2,000.  Course material will also be given out for free to participants, but no other assistance (with accommodation, travel or meals) will be provided. The Training Centre in Communication (TCC) is a NGO, in partnership with the University of Nairobi, and is the first African-based Training Centre to teach communication skills.
