YPARD’s 10-year Anniversary Celebration in Nepal

As a student of agricultural science, I always aspire to work on and get updated about research and development activities carried out  around the globe. My search of support for assisting me in my personal and professional development came to a beautiful end when I got an opportunity to know in detail about the elite platform YPARD from respected brother and Country Representative for Nepal, Dinesh Panday at Paris during COP21.

Since then, YPARD community has been a boon for gearing me up in the field of agriculture. This platform is solely a complete package of requirements for youths like us to get involved in discussions and create an international network of like-minded people for agricultural development. Recently, I got a wonderful opportunity to get involved as a mentee in EduMala Mentoring Program conducted by YPARD Nepal which has boosted up my knowledge and interpersonal skills.

Baking a Cake for YPARD

The year 2016 started on a great start. When YPARD community is celebrating 10 years of empowering youths in agriculture, I am privileged to be a part of YPARD Nepal team and celebrate the glorious achievement. On March 13, alongside other members of YPARD Nepal team (Sailesh Sigdel, Kshitiz Dhakal, Aastha Subedi, Gaurab Bhattarai, Subash Belbase and Renu Ojha) we baked a cake for the celebration at Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science, Paklihawa Campus in Rupandehi district of Nepal.

Introducing YPARD and highlighting its activities

The celebration was adjoined with a presentation on ‘YPARD and Opportunities’ targeting the undergraduate students of Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science, Paklihawa Campus. The presentation focused on introducing YPARD community among the young students and drawing their interest towards involvement in such an incredible platform. We also shared YPARD Nepal’s progress activities and future strategies to work better in youth and agriculture.

Six mentees from First Batch of Edumala Mentoring Program (myself, Sailesh, Aastha, Gaurab, Subash and Renu) shared the experiences from six weeks long training. In a special appearance, Assistant Professor of Department of Environment Science, Mr. Subodh Khanal highlighted the importance of such online/offline platform for uplifting the career of young students and raising their competency in global scenario. The program was finally concluded with vote of thanks to all participants, supporters and guest.
